I love looking at the life of Elijah.  I’ve often said that I hope there is a way for me to relive some of the most amazing moments in the Bible when I get to Heaven.  Elijah’s life had no shortage of amazing moments.

Through that, I remember what James chapter five says about him: “Elijah was a human as we are…”.  He was just a guy, like me, that God used in CRAZY ways!

We can tend to disqualify ourselves because of our circumstances.  How we were raised, where we’re from, what we’ve done in the past.  I think most of us would admit that the hardest person for us to forgive is ourselves.

In the book of Acts we read about a man named Saul who went all over the region to kill Christians.  He went so far as to get warrants to imprison or kill people who followed Jesus.  One day, on his way to carry out that very mission, Jesus got a hold of him.  We know him more famously as Paul…and he wrote more of the Bible than anyone else.

Don’t allow your past to disqualify you from what God wants to do through you.  God wants to do some crazy things through us, just like He did through Elijah.  He isn’t on the search for talented people – He’s on the hunt for truly obedient followers.

1 John 3:19-20   Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything.
